I prefer the book, but the movie has the type of moments that you can’t get from words. I am no Matt Damon groupie, but if you haven’t noticed, this is the second time I have brought up a movie of his. This one was particularly special for me, and not just because it was a great movie.
This movie is based on a book that was written by Andy Weir. Andy Weir was once a struggling writer, although struggling is partly a metaphor in his case. He was struggling to get his books noticed, not financially. This movie shows that with enough hard work, passion, and persistence, your dream will eventually be realized.
Now, the movie. The Martian. A tale of man versus nature when anything and everything go wrong and the only hope of survival is to never give up. Don’t quit. No matter what happens, there is a solution available. You just need to do the work to find it and never give up hope that a solution exists and is just waiting to be found.
And never lose your sense of self or sense of humor along the way.
