Inspiration of the Day #13

“There is no such thing as a sure thing. At the end of the day, the only thing that matters is what you think.”
– Ali (Draft Day)

This was another movie that caught me by surprise. I love football, I love movies about football, and I love Kevin Costner. Draft Day was not quite what I was expecting, but it ended up being better. Another example of cinematic brilliance that took a different approach toward the portrayal of a favorite American pastime and made it something special.

Draft Day is an underdog story that shows the combination of persistence, intellect, determination, and passion to be true to yourself and your vision. It might be fiction, but it sends the right message to anyone in need of a realistic, visual example of taking nothing and turning it into something.

I love how Draft Day also includes several of the other dramatic instances that we are all familiar with and still addresses the main theme of the story, football. Things are not always so easy or clean. Love, family, tensions with both, public criticism, or being ridiculed and criticized for what you are doing by your own team, sometimes, the gamble is worth it.

The cast is incredible on its own, but the overall result of everyone involved in this project is responsible for an amazing story that I consider to be truly inspirational.
