Inspiration of the Day #19

“The closer you think you are, the less you actually see.”
– J. Daniel Atlas (Now You See Me)

I have to be honest, this one was more about entertainment and wonder than about any grand lesson. Although, it could be argued that magic is a lesson in faith. Maybe not the kind of faith that is related directly to any religion, but the kind of faith that is rooted in the belief in the impossible. Now You See Me is entertaining, but I feel like it is also a valuable lesson.

The cast alone was pretty impressive, but it was also the way they came together on screen, the dialogue, special effects, the ongoing mystique, and just enough realistic illusions to make you believe that, magic or not, there are special people in this world that inspire the imagination and challenge possibilities.

Now You See Me follows the four horseman and their FBI agent and Interpol pursuers halfway across the United States and back while misdirecting, robbing, and tricking everyone who thinks they are smarter or that their money makes them all powerful along the way.

You can’t really go wrong with Morgan Freeman or Michael Caine. Now You See Me brings them together, and then some. Plus, you add in the fun magic tricks, and you have a couple hours of MOSTLY clean entertainment.
