Inspiration of the Day #45

“Mankind was born on Earth. It was never meant to die here.”
– Cooper (Interstellar)

Interstellar was definitely a movie that makes you think. It is the type of movie that you can’t momentarily step away from or try carrying on a conversation during and expect to understand what is happening. By the way, people who start conversations during movies…..please stop. Take a breath. Enjoy the experience.

There are many reasons I enjoyed the movie Interstellar. It was fairly unique, the special effects were fantastic, the story was fairly unpredictable and kept you guessing, and it challenged the mind to think. It showed a scary world that could end up being the result of our neglect, but also showed how human spirit and ingenuity will always be our salvation, provided we have the courage to act.

Also, Matthew McConaughey. He is an odd duck, no doubt, but I absolutely love his style. I love that this movie doesn’t overwhelm the audience with a romantic side story. It is all family, hope, and business. Interstellar was about humanity using the last tools available to save ourselves from ourselves. When I say tools, I am not talking about cool spaceships, robots, or any other piece of advanced technology.

I am talking about our intelligence. I am talking about our indomitable spirit. I am talking about our capacity for selfless action in the face of overwhelming odds. It may be fiction in this case, but history has shown us that we are capable of greatness when it counts.
