Inspiration of the Day #63

“I live my life a quarter mile at a time. Nothing else matters. Not the mortgage, not the store, not my team and all their bullsh*t. For those ten seconds or less, I’m free.”
– Dominic Toretto (The Fast and the Furious)

I remember seeing the movie The Fast and the Furious in theaters for the first time. I remember it being the coolest thing I had ever seen and I remember everyone I knew felt the same way. We all wanted to immediately get into our cars and start racing all over town. We all started looking at cool cars and frequently quoting this movie to each other.

I feel like nowadays, they have taken the franchise too far. A few movies is fine but 12? 13? I can’t remember how many there are now, but that doesn’t really matter to me. I loved the movie that started it all. The Fast and the Furious, even before all the sequels, spawned a new culture among us and it was an inspiration to us all.

Again, I do not encourage the law-breaking or criminal activities that take place. There are places you can go to legally race and it is less of a danger to innocent bystanders. I have always loved and will continue to love the main philosophies that The Fast and the Furious has emphasized. Freedom and family. I can’t imagine anything more important.

The Fast and the Furious has had plenty of cheesy moments throughout the years and some of their later movies have been a tad more ridiculous, but that doesn’t mean they are not still fun. Personally, I will forever and always be attached to the first. If you have not seen this movie, you are missing out. The race scenes are believable, the story is intriguing, and the journey is a wild and fun ride.
