I remember when the movie Toy Story first came out. Talk about revolutionary. A new movie format, using entirely new technology, delivered in a never before seen way. I can’t speak for anyone else, but I know my mind was blown. It was the coolest and most fun movie experience of the time and it paved the way for PIXAR to become truly special.
Toy Story was so much more than just another movie for kids. And it wasn’t just for kids either. It was the start of a new age in entertainment where anything was possible and technology was available to bring imagination to life. It was amazing what they accomplished and this was the movie that started it all.
Sure, it helped that Toy Story had a vocal cast that was also top-notch and full of A-listers, but it was the story and the message that won the day. It wasn’t just entertainment. It was educational and inspirational. It taught the importance of friendship, empathy, love, understanding, accountability, and consequences. Best of all, it didn’t stop there.
Toy Story‘s most important message, in my opinion, was the inevitability of change. Time doesn’t stand still, even though it may seem that way sometimes. The world around us is constantly changing and the worst thing you can do is to try stopping it. Things evolve, whether you like it or not and you have to choose how you will respond. Will you let it destroy you? Or will you use it to evolve yourself into something or someone better?
