“You can’t put a price on being able to live with yourself.”
– Jack Silva (13 Hours)
There are a lot of examples of heroism and sacrifice throughout history. It is a tale as old as humanity. 13 Hours is a more recent example of people answering a call that they didn’t have to answer in an effort to protect those they were not even responsible for. Regardless of your political opinions, I encourage you to look beyond anger or hatred and see what transpired during a very intense situation in recent history.
13 Hours is the story of the assassination of Ambassador Christopher Stevens, the murder of his security team, and the assault on the American annex nearby that resulted in one more death and several casualties. A group of contractors that were tasked with the protection of the annex volunteered to attempt a rescue of the ambassador and his team and then were put through an all-night fight for their lives and those they were protecting.
It was a unique situation and the fact that there were any survivors at all is a testament to the tenacity and fighting spirit of service members, both past and present. 13 Hours wasn’t about political anything so please do not mistake this for a political rant or blame assignment. These brave men and women deserve better than that. This is about the bravery and courage of most of the people at the annex.
13 Hours is another movie added to this list that is not for all. There are scenes of intense action and violence. It was a bad situation with death and destruction on both sides. I still encourage everyone to give it a try.
