Inspiration of the Day #109

“It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live.”
– Albus Dumbledore (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone)

I will never forget the first time I read this book. I wasn’t the fastest or most committed reader at the time but I still got through this book in less than 4 days. I just couldn’t put it down. I was so excited to give the audio version a try and it was even more fun. I have to admit that Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone is one of my all-time favorites.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone was a truly original idea and it was the beginning of a culture that is still growing even today. The movies were fun and interesting as well, but nothing can compare to the epic nature of the source material. This was the book that started it all. The dreams, the new worlds, a multi-billion dollar franchise, and so much more.

I enjoyed the entire series, but there is something about the first that will always hold a special place in my heart. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone is more than just a fun read. It also serves as an inspiration to want to read more. It is impossible to read without imagining a wider world of possibilities beyond the pages. Not just in fiction, but in reality.

J.K. Rowling came up with the idea while waiting for a train. Inspiration can strike anywhere and at any time. It is important to have dreams. It is important to allow inspiration to flow through us all. Regardless of where you are or what you want in life, no matter where the journey takes you, I always encourage taking a good book with you.
