What better way to end the weekend than taking my wife to the pumpkin patch with family and then spending a nice relaxing afternoon and evening watching a wonderful Netflix special? Honestly, I can think of a lot of better things. Fortunately for us, it is not all talk.
This month, we are scheduled to go to Monterey for a day trip, multiple Thanksgiving meals with family, and even a trip to Disneyland. Yes, the end-of-month bills are going to sting. Yes, from a financial perspective, there is a recklessness in what we are doing. But! Is it not more reckless to keep waiting until tomorrow to do the things you want to do today?
Tomorrow is not a promise. It is not a guarantee. It is not owed to you and you are not entitled to it. None of us are. This is why it is important to take things into consideration that school never really teaches you. The smart choice isn’t always the right choice.
The only thing worse than regret is the regret that comes from a missed opportunity. No one, I don’t care how smart, has the right or the ability to tell you what is valuable to you. Money is nothing more than a tool. How you use it is up to you. I am not saying you should or need to blow it all on a fun weekend, but perhaps try not to be so stingy with it.
Life is pretty great and there are a lot of great things to do. A lot of these cost money, sure, but don’t let money be the thing that comes between you and enjoying your time here. Let loose a little. Over-indulgence can be dangerous, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have a little extra fun every now and then.
