The Batman

I was not enthusiastic when they announced that Ben Affleck would be playing Bruce Wayne/Batman, but when I got through all the movies with him as the bat, I was pleasantly surprised with his performances. Sure, the movies themselves were not fantastic, but I found him to be a good fit and he played the role well. It was believable.

Skip forward to Robert Pattinson. My enthusiasm was even less than it was with Ben, but since Ben’s performance wasn’t bad, I decided to give this one a try with the same open mind and heart. This time around, it’s a different story. Wow!

In case you are wondering, that is not a good “Wow!” I have not liked many of the D.C. movies to come out over the last decade, but I never found any of them to be boring. This one, however, was a total snore-fest. I couldn’t believe it, and again, that is not a good “I couldn’t believe it.

When he was suited up, he looked the part, but that was about where it ended. There were a couple decent fight sequences, but this really didn’t feel like a real Batman movie to me. When not fighting, he moved so freaking slow. His demeanor felt all wrong to me for the caped crusader and it was sad.

“But the slow motion is more ninja-like and avoids detection!”

Tell that to his loud freaking boots and overly flamboyant entries into every situation that might have been a good time for stealth.

Then there was the whole emo look when not suited up……

I got nothing. I try to be fair and open-minded, but three hours is no small feat.

Definitely do not recommend this one, but I am no professional. Give it a watch if you dare and make up your own mind.

Let me know what you think/thought.
