Book 4 of 2023
The Infinite Sea was worth the read, but in all honesty, I didn’t consider it to be an improvement on the first book. I plan on finishing the series, but this is definitely not a series that I would read again. I understand that it is a young adult book, but given the “apocalyptic” and “alien invasion” genres, I expected a lot more.
The character development leaves much to be desired, I found the action scenes and sequences lacking, and the dialogue…..the less said, the better. I would still recommend this series to anyone interested in the genres since this series could, hypothetically, fit your taste, but it is definitely not a series that I would consider to be worth going through more than once. I don’t hate or regret reading this book, but this series, thus far, has been a one and done experience for me.
It is not difficult to see why a second film was never pursued. Most of the decent story and action are in book one. If you didn’t like the first movie or the first book, it is not likely that you will enjoy this addition to series. Still, you never know. While it is not quite as good as the first book, it still wasn’t horrendous. Therefore, I feel fine giving The Infinite Sea the same rating as the first.
